Google has reorganised the leadership of its artificial-intelligence empire at one of the most competitive moments in the company’s history.
Demis Hassabis is leaving the day-to-day leadership of Google DeepMind to become Alphabet’s chief scientist and chairman of DeepMind.
Koray Kavukcuoglu, previously DeepMind’s chief technology officer, will assume operational responsibility for the laboratory while continuing as Alphabet’s chief AI architect.
