The next phase of artificial intelligence will not live only inside a chat window. It will walk, lift, navigate and work beside people.
NVIDIA and South Korea’s LG Group have signed an agreement to develop a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot, with a debut targeted for early 2027, according to Barron’s. The partnership is expected to draw on NVIDIA’s Isaac GR00T foundation models and Jetson Thor computing platform, and to extend beyond humanoids into wheeled robots and vehicle systems.
AI is getting a body
Language models learn from words. Physical AI must connect perception, reasoning and movement while obeying the unforgiving rules of the real world. A small software mistake is inconvenient; a physical mistake can damage equipment or injure a person.
That is why the partnership matters. NVIDIA brings models, simulation and edge computing. LG brings deep experience in electronics, appliances, manufacturing and consumer environments. Together, those capabilities could shorten the distance between a research prototype and a useful machine.
The real opportunity is the ecosystem
The humanoid may capture attention, but the larger platform includes data generation, digital twins, safety systems, sensors, chips, maintenance and deployment. The value may spread across many companies before one general-purpose robot becomes common in homes.
Businesses should watch the first narrow jobs: warehouse movement, inspection, assembly and repetitive handling. Physical AI will likely enter through focused tasks, then expand as reliability and economics improve.
