Tencent has expanded global access to Hy3, its advanced reasoning and agent model, through WorkBuddy, the Miora design service and Tencent Cloud TokenHub.
WorkBuddy access is being offered free worldwide until 31 August 2026, while additional integrations are planned across Tencent’s cloud portfolio.
Distribution can matter more than a leaderboard
A model becomes economically important when it enters tools people already use. By connecting Hy3 to work, design and cloud services, Tencent can gather real workflow experience while reducing the effort required for customers to adopt it.
This is especially important outside China. International users may not choose a model because of one benchmark score; they choose the product that solves a task, supports their language, integrates with existing systems and offers an acceptable price.
The global market is becoming multipolar
- US companies remain strong in frontier models and developer platforms.
- Chinese companies can compete through scale, cost and product ecosystems.
- Regional providers can differentiate through language and local regulation.
- Businesses increasingly want the flexibility to switch or route between models.
Global access also creates questions about data location, privacy, censorship, export restrictions and enterprise compliance. Organisations should review where information is processed and what contractual protections apply before moving sensitive work.
Hy3’s rollout demonstrates that the AI race is not simply a contest to produce one universally dominant model. It is becoming an ecosystem competition in which availability, integration and trust can matter as much as raw intelligence.
