A marketplace for capability—not hype
The Startup Marketplace is designed as a working district rather than a pitch-show stage. Scientists, engineers, founders, universities, public agencies and investors meet around evidence. A beautiful presentation cannot replace a functioning prototype, safety record or realistic deployment plan.
Each company begins with a problem statement linked to the habitat’s mission: ocean monitoring, resilient energy, desalination, medical access, marine robotics, emergency response, sustainable materials, food systems or secure compute.

Who owns an offshore discovery?
Ownership must be settled before excitement begins. A discovery may involve a researcher, university, habitat laboratory, public grant, private partner and community data. The habitat can become an early customer for appropriate tools—sensors, energy software, maintenance systems or training products. That helps founders gather real performance data. But procurement must remain competitive and independently reviewed. A spin-out connection cannot guarantee a contract.
The self-healing networks and robotics systems also require protected boundaries. Startup access is segmented, logged and limited to the minimum necessary environment.
How the marketplace earns and returns value
Revenue can come from incubation fees, minority equity positions, licensing, specialist facilities, training, events and successful procurement. A defined share returns to research, safety, education and habitat infrastructure. Another share supports the original teams and institutions.
