Three people have been detained for rape and for forcing a 15-year-old girl into joining a cult.

On June 30, officers of the Ogun State police command detained three members of the infamous Eiye confraternity after they allegedly gang-raped a young girl (name withheld) and forced her to join their cult.

According to a statement made by DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state police command’s spokesperson, the suspects, Daniel Njoku a.k.a. Agege, Damilare Ogundiran, and Adebayo Olamilekan, were detained after a report was filed at the divisional office in Ajuwon by the victim’s mother. She claimed that she had sent her 15-year-old daughter on an errand in the Akute Od

The complainant went on to say that the suspects had threatened to k!ll her daughter if she told anybody about the incident.

Following the report, SP Andrew Akinseye, DPO Ajuwon division, assigned his detectives to track down the thugs. Based on reliable intelligence, the squad discovered the group’s hiding place in the Akute odo area. They assaulted the location and were successful in apprehending three gang members.

The accused have admitted to committing the crime, and they have told the police that their actions were motivated by their desperate need for new members, particularly female members, to join their group.

The suspects will now be transferred immediately to the state criminal investigation department’s anti-cultists branch for a covert inquiry, according to police commissioner CP Lanre Bankole.
