Telstra services are now returning online, after floods triggered extensive disruptions that left hundreds of customers without mobile phone signal for more than five hours.

In the wee hours of Tuesday, 500 or so customers of the national telco reported lost mobile reception.

Telstra customers along the NSW/Victoria border complained on Twitter that they had been without mobile service since three in the morning.

At 8 am, locals in the border towns of Wagga Wagga and Albury-Wodonga reported that there was still no coverage.

The population of the border towns and the adjacent territories is around 100,000.

The timing couldn’t be worse, as one Victorian resident noted, the state prepares for a national holiday.
