In his ongoing series of sculptures, exas-based artist Gil Bruvel. Bruvel captures feelings of tranquility. He builds colouful portraits of composed looks out of colorful wood blocks. This unique method gives these faces a captivating texture that resembles a pixelated aesthetic.
Bruvel, who is originally from Australia and the south of France, has been practicing vipassan meditation for more than 40 years He uses expression, color, form, and pattern in The Mask Series to represent the various emotional states connected to this routine. Apart from the different approach, there are some similarities among these many faces. For example, all of these portraits have human faces with closed eyes. Some may smile, but the majority only have a slight lip curve.
