Super Eagles Fail to Register Victory in Double-Header Friendlies vs Cameroon(match report)

Nigeria vs Cameroon second friendly match in Austria ended in a stalemate as both teams failed to find the back of the net – The Super Eagles had three shots on target, but none was able to go past the Cameroonian goalkeeper – Cameroon won the first game 1-0 four days earlier following a superb strike by Zambo Anguissa

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have concluded their double friendly matches against Cameroon in Austria without a win.

Despite dominating the second game on Tuesday, June 8, at the Stadion Weiner Neustadt, Vienna, Austria, Gernot Rohr’s men failed to find the back of the net with a flurry of chances. With the Indomitable Lions winning the first game four days earlier, the Super Eagles were under pressure to register a win as it will affect their position on the FIFA rankings

The Eagles missed the services of William Troost-Ekong and Jamilu Collins following respective injuries in he first match. Rohr was forced to look for a replacement for the duo in their next meeting as both teams continued to prepare for their World Cup qualifiers. And once again, both teams approached the encounter playing for pride as it was explosive right from the start to the end of the encounter. Nigeria obviously dominated the second match, getting four shots – with three on target, but none could go beyond the opposition goalkeeper. Cameroon also put up the fight, but the Ahmed Musa-captained side looked hungrier for victory, but somehow it ended in a stalemate. Nigeria 0-0 Cameroon.

Both friendly matches were organised as part of preparation ahead of the World Cup qualifiers billed to begin in September

The three-time African African champions lost to the Indomitable Lions by 1-0 in Austria in the first game and then played goalless in the second fixture. Etebo and Uzoho were making jest of each other at the lobby of their hotel rooms as the goalkeeper was making a pose like a model on the run way. The six-foot-plus goalie showed ambience wearing a joggers with a round-necked top as well a hat and a sneakers to fit as he counted his steps through the hallway.
