Rev Fr. Kelvin Ugwu Reacts After Angel Showed Off Her Range Rover On Social Media

Fr. Kelvin Ugwu has reacted after Angel showed off her Range Rover on social media.

On Tuesday, the Catholic clergyman reacted after the Nigerian reality star showed off her Range Rover on social media.

Angel is one of the trending names on social media after she showed off her newly acquired Range Rover. Reacting to this a Catholic priest identified on Facebook as Fr. Kelvin Ugwu took to his verified Facebook page to air his view about the reality star.

According to the post he shared online, Fr. Kelvin Ugwu said that he did not regard owing a car, no matter what brand, as something that should define him or something that he should make noise about, adding that it amuses him when Angel bought a Range Rover and is all over all the social media platforms as though it is not just a means of transportation like other cars.

Fr. Kelvin wrote, “I do not regard owning a car, no matter what brand, as something that should define me or I should make noise about. The same goes for phones or some material things. It somehow amuses me when Angel bought a Range Rover and is all over all the social media platforms as though it is not just a means of transportation like other cars. Sometimes I feel it usually comes from a poverty mentality or the desire to prove an unnecessary point to people (I might be wrong though).

“We post about them in this part of the world majorly due to govt policies and largely due to poverty. And some use these things to define themselves. And most people accord respect to individuals based on the type of cars they drive. 

“I know that in countries with better policies, you can buy any car you like and the payment system will allow you to pay gradually for years based on your salary. As long as you have a stable job and income, owning a car is no big deal for them. Some of our priests in the US use the type of cars that people in Nigeria will consider as a scandal. But it is just normal for them there.

“I won’t say the same when it comes to posting about nurturing or bringing forth a new life, having a union, or celebrating God’s presence in your life even doing it loudly on social media.

Cars that people are using to brag today, just like iPhones and Blackberry phones, might not be something of value tomorrow. . .this is why I gave the example of our grandfathers and bicycle.

‘All in all, I understand the reservations of most of us who are commenting and this is why I decided to make this further explanation.
