There’s something appealing about turning something ordinary into something remarkable. These adorable painted stone animals are a great example.
Japanese artist Akie Nakata creates the cutest animal paintings that fit in the palm of your hand using stones and rocks.
She draws inspiration for her characters from stones, and she began stone painting in 2011, after discovering a rock that resembled a rabbit. Nakata has a great regard for nature and believes that each encountered stone has its own journey, thus she is very meticulous with each change and pays close attention to the natural shape of the stone.

She feels a special connection to the chosen stones and considers them to be living organisms that must be appropriately honored.
Nakata can be found on facebook and instagram. Below are some of her creative works.
