At the age of four, Huang Guofu, who is now 42, suffered a terrible electric shock accident and lost both of his arms. Despite this, he continued to pursue his dreams of becoming an artist. He started drawing with his feet at the age of 12 after being inspired by traditional art.

Huang’s father fell ill when he was an adult. He had to drop out of school and decided to pursue a career as a professional painter in order to pay for the treatments. Huang initially attempted to sell his exquisite paintings on the street, but he quickly discovered that his works completely lacks beauty and that many people bought them merely out of compassion because of his disability. That also didn’t deter him.

He placed a brush in his mouth and started teaching himself how to create more complex, detailed drawings.

The younger generation needs to know that there aren’t any significant obstacles in life.

Whenever life closes one door for you, it must have simultaneously opened another. The younger generation needs to know that there aren’t any significant obstacles in life. The only limitation is lack of desire, says Huang.

He was chosen as the vice-curator of the Chonqing Talents Museum last year at the age of 41 for his never-give up attitude and exceptional artistic accomplishments.
