A 16-year-old guy who stunned attendees at his school prom by donning a brilliant red sequined tuxedo and ballgown skirt has gained internet fame.
Korben says he intended to demonstrate that “you can be anyone you want to be.” He completed his ensemble with a crown.
As the student exited his car at Harleston’s Archbishop Sancroft High School, onlookers applauded and some instructors allegedly started crying.
His message has since been widely known because to the millions of views on a photo delighted mother Nina Green uploaded online.
The Norfolk resident Nina told the BBC that she wanted to portray her son as “living his best life.”
“You’ll get nothing but the best out of your child if you let them be who they are,” she advised.
There are still people in the world who don’t understand, but you can’t top the feeling of acceptance. I’m overjoyed for him.
Michelle Visage, a contestant on Ru Paul’s Drag Race, reposted the article in a way that “blew Korben away.”
Ohhhhhhhh yes, she wrote. You are a wonderful, gorgeous mother, and your kid is a STAR.
Nina’s post received more than 120,000 “likes,” and it was also retweeted by Dr. Ranj and H from Steps.
Korben has always loved dressing up, and for many years now, she has performed on stage as the feisty drag queen Miss Frou Frou.
Nevertheless, his mother defended him, saying: “He wanted to go [to prom] as himself, while showing his feminine side — with a tuxedo on top and a frock at the bottom, very much influenced by [American actor] Billy Porter.”
Nina claims she has gotten a “amazing” response, with one parent even emailing for suggestions on how to support her kid who just came out to her as LGBT.
For the sake of those who do not have the same support as he does, Nina said that it is crucial to fly the flag.
