Nayan and Vaishali are paper cut artists from India who use their miniature paper art to create various species of birds in order to raise awareness and protect these tiny creatures. They believe that when people see birds in various mediums of art, they will understand the importance of preserving them. After drawing a rough sketch of the bird on paper, different layers are traced from the sketch onto 200 GSM watercolour paper. After hand-cutting each layer, they begin coloring it with water colors with precision. Finally, these layers are assembled to form three-dimensional versions of the little bird. Each bird takes them 4 to 8 hours to complete, and the smallest paper bird measures 1.8 cm in height.
